Kirsty has written for many regional titles including Sunderland Echo and the Redditch Standard during her Journalism studies at Birmingham City University. Before graduating, Kirsty ran her own data news website called The Briti for a year.

Shortly before her graduation, she joined Reach PLC as a full-time Facebook Community Reporter where she specialised in the reporting of issues in the LGBT Community, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Illness and Disability.

She worked within the Facebook scheme for two years and was awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Journalism from the NCTJ.

In March 2021, she changed roles within Reach PLC to Reporter at the Daily Star, a role which she held for over a year on the main news desk.

In May 2022, Kirsty changed roles within the Daily Star team to become a Video News Reporter. She was named reporter of the month in August 2022 (6.5m PVs) and October 2022 (6.2m PVs).

Her work with the Daily Star came to an end after two years on the Video News Desk in May 2024. She was transferred to Reach PLC's Central Content Hub as a Social News Reporter with a particular focus on TikTok content before resigning in October 2024 to join National World PLC. Her current role is Digital Content Manager for the Express & Star in Wolverhampton.

Kirsty still has a keen interest in data journalism and uses her skills where possible in the team.  She continues to develop her skills, becoming increasingly confident in tools such as Tableau and Flourish, even taking it upon herself to become self-taught in R and Python. She graduated from a Data Journalism postgraduate degree in January 2024 and bagged a 6-month data internship with the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism in May that same year to further her experience. She did this on a part-time basis around her work with Reach PLC, working on investigative projects with journalists around the world.

She has completed a Level 3 NCTJ Diploma and is currently taking a course in shorthand.
